Does verification send a real email to the address?

Verification checks the receiving mail server but stops before transmitting any message body to the recipient.

Todos os tópicos de ajuda

Short answer: No. We never deliver an actual message to the addresses you verify. Your contacts do not receive anything, and there is no "test email" in their inbox.

What actually happens

Email verification uses the standard SMTP conversation that mail servers use to accept mail — but we stop before any message is ever sent. In plain terms, we open a connection to the recipient's mail server and get as far as asking "would you accept mail for this address?" (the SMTP RCPT TO step). Based on how the server answers, we classify the address.

At that point we close the connection. We never issue the command that would transmit a message body (DATA), so no email is composed, sent, or delivered. There is nothing for the recipient to see.

Why this matters

  • Your recipients are never disturbed. Verifying a list does not send them mail, notifications, or "someone checked your address" messages.
  • Your sender reputation is not touched. Because no message is delivered, verification does not generate opens, bounces on your sending domain, or spam-folder activity.
  • It's safe to verify before you send. You can clean a list confidently, knowing the cleaning step itself is invisible to the people on it.

The one exception you control

The only way an actual message reaches a recipient is when you send it, through your own email platform, after verification. Verification itself is always a silent check.
