Data Retention

How BillionVerify retains, restricts, and deletes operational data

Last updated: May 30, 2026

Retention periods vary by data type, account status, security needs, payment obligations, customer instructions, and legal requirements. Fixed deletion periods are published only where supported by enforceable product or infrastructure controls.

1. Retention Summary

Data TypeRetention
Verification input dataRestricted retention for service delivery, support, audit, abuse prevention, billing disputes, legal claims, and customer controller instructions.
Verification resultsRestricted retention for result delivery, dispute handling, quality review, abuse prevention, audit, and legal needs.
Uploaded source and result filesMay be retained long term under restricted access. Customer-facing source or original downloads are available for 1 day; verification result details and result file downloads are available for 7 days.
API logsOperational retention according to logging configuration, security needs, and PII minimization controls.
Abuse logsRestricted retention for fraud prevention, abuse investigation, account security, and legal claims.
Billing recordsRetained as needed for tax, accounting, payment disputes, chargebacks, fraud review, and legal obligations.
Support requestsRetained as needed to respond to requests, preserve customer history, resolve disputes, and document DSAR decisions.
BackupsRetained according to infrastructure backup configuration and restored or expired through operational recovery procedures.

2. Account Deletion

Account deletion removes the active account identity and revokes access credentials. Historical verification, billing, support, audit, job, and file storage records may remain as restricted records when retention is necessary for security, audit, payment, legal, or customer controller purposes.

A new account registered with the same email address receives a new account identifier and cannot access records retained under the deleted account.

3. Customer-Facing Access Windows

  • Uploaded source or original file downloads are available for 1 day.
  • Verification result details and result file downloads are available for 7 days.
  • After the applicable window expires, the dashboard and API do not provide new self-service download links or detailed result views.
  • Deleted accounts cannot request new download links for retained files.
  • Dashboard history and credit history are minimized to statistics by default.
  • Detailed DSAR or support exports require a separate audited workflow.

4. Legal and Security Holds

Some data may need to be retained or restricted instead of deleted where required for legal obligations, payment disputes, security investigations, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, backup integrity, or legal claims.
