ContactOut provides LinkedIn-sourced contacts. Profile accuracy is not the same as inbox deliverability.
ContactOut is a contact discovery platform built around LinkedIn profiles. It helps recruiters, SDRs, and outbound teams find personal and professional email addresses for people identified on LinkedIn, along with direct dial phone numbers. The platform is used by teams that want to move from a LinkedIn search or connection to a usable outreach record without manual research.
ContactOut surfaces email addresses through profile data, pattern matching, and crowd-sourced verification signals. A contact match on LinkedIn means the person exists and has an active profile β it does not mean the email address ContactOut associates with that profile is still active. Personal email addresses can be outdated. Professional addresses become invalid whenever someone changes jobs, which LinkedIn profiles often don't reflect immediately. Both types require a deliverability check before outreach.
An independent SMTP check through BillionVerify after export gives you confirmation that goes beyond profile-level matching: current deliverability status, catch-all domain detection, and role-based inbox flagging before any record enters a CRM or sender.
What ContactOut's email data actually means.
| ContactOut signal | What it means | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| Professional email found | Address pattern matched to current employer domain | Mailbox is active and accepting email today |
| Personal email found | Address associated with the individual across data sources | Address is still actively used by that person |
| Verified badge | ContactOut confirmed the address through its data process | Real-time SMTP deliverability is confirmed |
| LinkedIn profile active | Person has a current LinkedIn presence | Their email address has not changed recently |
ContactOut derives its email data from LinkedIn profile information, employer domain patterns, and other signals available at the time of collection. Profile data reflects what a person chose to share on LinkedIn, not the current state of their email mailbox. Both the platform's badge and LinkedIn's profile freshness are useful signals β neither is a substitute for an SMTP-level check.
The specific risks in a ContactOut export.
| Risk | Source | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Job change staleness | Contact changed employer after ContactOut collected the record | Hard bounce on professional address |
