Mailshake runs campaigns. BillionVerify verifies the list before campaigns start.
Mailshake is an outbound email platform. It handles email sequence automation, follow-up scheduling, reply detection, and campaign analytics for small teams and individual sellers who want a simple, fast setup for outbound outreach.
BillionVerify is a pre-send verification layer. It classifies email records by deliverability signal β valid, invalid, catch-all, role-based, unknown, disposable β before any of those records enter a sending tool. It does not run campaigns or manage email sequences.
Mailshake and BillionVerify are not alternatives. They solve different parts of the same problem. BillionVerify runs before the list enters Mailshake; Mailshake runs the campaign once the list is ready.
What Mailshake handles.
Mailshake manages the sending and sequence layer. It provides:
- Email sequence automation with follow-up scheduling
- Personalization using contact data fields
- Reply detection and lead status management
- Open, click, and reply tracking
- Integration with Gmail, Outlook, and custom SMTP
Mailshake also includes basic list hygiene features that handle some invalid address patterns.
What Mailshake does not replace:
- A consistent catch-all classification policy applied before sequences are configured
- Role-based address detection before personalized outbound sequences run
- Unknown address segmentation before any campaign step begins
- Suppression management that persists across campaigns independently of Mailshake
- Independent verification that runs before the list enters the Mailshake import interface
Small teams using Mailshake often operate from a single sending domain. There is no inbox rotation or domain pool to distribute bounce damage β every bounce hits the same domain. For a team with one or two sending addresses, a bad list that produces even a small number of hard bounces creates disproportionate reputation damage. The bounce budget is smaller, not larger, when you have fewer sending assets to spread the risk across.
What BillionVerify handles.
BillionVerify applies a pre-send quality gate before records enter Mailshake. It provides:
- Signal classification: valid, invalid, catch-all, role-based, unknown, risky, disposable
- Catch-all detection: identifies domains that accept all addresses at the domain level
- Role-based detection: flags shared inboxes before they receive personal outbound sequences
- Suppression management: export and maintain suppression lists across campaigns
- Domain and MX-level checks: identify records where the sending domain is invalid or misconfigured
BillionVerify does not run campaigns or manage Mailshake sequences.
