G2 shows who uses software. It does not show how to contact them.
G2 is a software review platform. Companies listed on G2 have product pages, category rankings, and user-submitted reviews. This data makes G2 useful for two B2B prospecting tasks: identifying software companies in a category, and finding who currently uses a competitor's product.
What G2 does not provide is email addresses. Reviewer profiles show a job title and company name. Category listings show a product name and vendor website. Getting from a G2 signal to a verified, sendable email address requires separate discovery work β and the quality of what you find depends heavily on the type of company you are targeting.
What G2 is useful for in B2B prospecting.
G2's value in a prospecting workflow is account selection and signal sourcing, not contact discovery.
| G2 signal | What it tells you | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Software category listing | Companies that offer or use software in this space | Build a target account list by category |
| Competitor product reviews | Companies that already use a competing product | Competitor customer sourcing β identify accounts already in-market |
| Reviewer job title and company | A named person at a named company used the product | Start a finder search for that person's email |
| G2 score and review count | Product adoption signal β market presence | Prioritize accounts by category reach or momentum |
| Vendor profile website link | Company domain | Entry point for email pattern research |
G2 is strongest for competitor customer discovery. A reviewer who rated a competing product has already evaluated that software category β they are an in-market account. That makes G2-sourced competitor review lists higher intent than a cold category list, but it does not make the emails easier to find or verify.
The path from a G2 profile to a verified email.
| Step | What happens | Quality risk |
|---|---|---|
| Identify target on G2 | Company name, reviewer name, job title, domain via vendor website | No email provided anywhere on G2 |
| Research company domain | Visit the vendor website or company website linked from the G2 profile | SaaS companies may use custom domains, subdomains, or multiple domains |
| Run email finder against domain | Pattern-matched or LinkedIn-sourced address for the named reviewer or target contact |
