What a built-in check gives you
Your tool already marked these emails verified. Here's how to tell if that's enough for this send. Many lead databases and sending tools have a built-in check. It catches bad syntax, dead domains and obvious mistakes. The question isn't good or bad. It's whether one label is enough for this send. Ask three things.
Question 1: when was it checked?
One. When was it checked? A label records a past check. Since then, people change jobs and companies move their email. A second check closes that gap, because you run it right before you send.
Question 2: where does catch-all go?
Two. Where does catch-all go? Some domains accept mail for every address, so a yes from that server doesn't prove the mailbox exists. If those sit inside verified, you can't treat them differently. BillionVerify gives catch-all its own status, so you set the volume.
Question 3: where does unknown go?
Three. Where does unknown go? A server might time out, block the check, or say try later. That address isn't confirmed, and it isn't proven bad. So it stays unknown, and it doesn't use a credit.
Is the built-in check enough?
Now sort the send. 200 contacts from referrals, or 50 prospects you researched yourself? From a recent, reliable source, the built-in check can carry that. A 5,000-contact export, several data sources, ten client campaigns, or a reused list?
Run the second check
Verify first. This check doesn't have to connect to your sending tool, and the built-in check stays on. Open File List Verify and drop in your CSV. You see the credits it can use before it runs. Click Verify, and we'll email you when it's done. Here's a bigger sample list. Your mix will differ. Catch-all and unknown keep their own counts, instead of disappearing into valid.
When the two disagree
Sometimes a verified address comes back different. Usually neither tool is wrong. The person left after the last refresh, so it's invalid now. Or the domain accepts everything, so it's catch-all. When both agree, that's your strongest group. Use one rule for every list. Import valid. Suppress invalid, and keep disposable out. Catch-all gets a smaller segment, role gets its own campaign, and unknown waits for review. Filter to the status you want, click Export Results, and import that file. So when a tool says verified, ask those three things. And re-verify any list older than 60 to 90 days, whichever tool checked it first.
What it costs
On cost, each result uses one credit, including catch-all and role. Unknown, bad syntax and disposable use none. File uploads need a paid account.
