  1. What a Hunter export contains

A Hunter status comes with a date, and that date decides what you do next. Export your leads from Hunter, and the CSV gives you three columns to read. Confidence score, verification status, and verification date. Hunter's statuses start with valid and invalid. Disposable is a temporary address. Accept all means the domain takes every message, so the mailbox can't be confirmed. Unknown means the check couldn't settle it. And in a bulk run, Not verified means that row was never checked at all. Accept all is where the score earns its place. Hunter says to consider filtering out anything below 85%. One detail trips people up. The Hunter app hides the score on valid and invalid emails, but your export still shows it. A valid row at 92 is still valid.

  2. Why the date matters

Now the date. Hunter says a domain can shift from valid to accept-all or invalid as mail servers change. Its advice is short. On paid plans, Hunter re-verifies your saved leads every month. That doesn't touch a CSV you downloaded last quarter, and that file is what reaches your sending tool.

  3. Export the leads

So export close to your send date. In Leads, filter by verification date if you want, then select your rows. Open the three dots, and click Export. Larger files arrive by email.

  4. Verify the CSV

Drag that CSV into File List Verify. Click Verify, and the job runs in the background. We email you when it's done. These are larger sample lists, not Hunter data. Each status gets its own count, so you see the shape of a list at a glance.

  5. Use Hunter's score

Here's where the two tools fit together. Your download keeps every Hunter column, and adds ours at the end. So Hunter's score sits right beside our status. Catch-all is our name for accept all. Sort that group by Hunter's score. Its guide starts at 85. If you're still warming up a domain, it says start at 90. Then lower it 5% at a time, and watch your bounce rate. The other statuses are simpler. Valid goes in your main sequence. Role means a shared inbox, like the generic addresses Hunter lists. Hold back unknown. Drop invalid and disposable.

  6. Import into Hunter

To put the list back, open People Leads, and click Import leads. Hunter matches the usual columns. For ones it doesn't recognize, it suggests a custom attribute. Do that for our status column, and you can filter on it later. Those leads are already in your account, so pick how Hunter treats them. Don't import leaves them where they are. Copy updates them, and adds them to the new list. Move updates them, and moves them there.

  7. What it costs

For us, one result is one credit, and that includes catch-all and role. Unknown, bad syntax and disposable aren't charged. You'll need a paid account to upload files, and any credit purchase gets you there.
